Mr. Maiquez showed us an article about a girl who’s friend betrayed her and turned all the other girls in her class against her. Read Mr. Maiquez’s post for more on this topic: click here

  • What do you think Julia should do now?

If I was Julia, I would get super angry at her “friend”. Some people just get too popular and I think it goes to their head. Even so, if I was Julia, I would tell the teacher because the girls wouldn’t talk to her the next day anyway. I definitely wouldn’t have given Erin my shoes if I was her. If Erin started to totally get on my case, (me being Julia) and it got into something physical, then I say let it. In the end, I would leave the school. But before that, I would make a newspaper thing and put a lot of embarrasing stuff about Erin and those other wannabes and give it to everyone in the school except for the teachers. If they threaten to tell on me, I will just threaten to tell on them for what they did and what Erin did. I would also go around the neighborhood and issue the newspaper to even more people.

  • Why do you think Wendy didn’t stick up for Julia?

I don’t think Wendy stood up for Julia because she was really scared that the same situation would happen to her. In any case, Wendy should have stuck up for Julia. If she didn’t, that means she isn’t a true friend. Julia should just forget about Wendy.

  • Has this sort of thing happen ever happened to you or to someone you know?

No, it hasn’t, thank G_d.

  • Have you ever been in Wendy’s position? Erin’s?

No, thank G_d

  • How do you think this situation would be different if the case involved boys instead of girls?

I’m pretty sure that if it involved boys, it would turn out in multiple fights and the boy being shunned would probably be suspended because all the other boys would lie about it.

  • Why do you think people pick on others, and why do others join in?

People who tease/pick on others do it for various reasons. It could be for for attention, because the person’s parents don’t pay attention to him/her, to make the teaser feel good about him/herself, because that person thinks he/she is better than everyone else, or if that person is just a jerk.

  • What do you do when you see or hear someone in your class making fun of someone? Do you join in? Speak up for the person? Say nothing? Why do you think you react that way?

Usually I speak up for the teased person or get into a big argument with the teaser. I might also make fun of the teaser so he/she will be embarrased. If it gets into a fight, then let it. (Of course I won’t start the fight.)

  • Have you ever felt that a good friend turned his or her back on you? What happened and what did it feel like?

Sort of. This jerk who isn’t my friend anymore kind of teased me a lot, called me names, or ebarrased me. I felt like attaking that person, but of course I didn’t want to disgrace my family and my ancestors, so I didn’t. Anyway, can’t really feel bad about what that person said about me, because I m better at almost everything than he is, except for being a jerk and showing off.
